Wedding Packages Package 1 Package 2 Package 3 The History of Benvoulin Church Benvoulin Church was built in 1892, and was the first Protestant Church established south of Vernon. Constructed in Gothic Revival style, it features soaring vaulted arches, high ceilings and stunning arched windows. The steeple was based on the Crathie Kirk, Aberdeenshire home of Lord and Lady Aberdeen in Scotland. Lord and Lady Aberdeen provided money and horsepower to assist with the building of the church. The Church, known as the Bethel Presbyterian Church, served the little community of Benvoulin until 1964, joining the newly formed United Church in 1925. A Sunday school and meeting room was added to the Church in 1956. In 1964, the little white church was closed as a church, and through neglect, it slowly fell into a state of disrepair. In 1982 the Central Okanagan Heritage Society initiated the restoration of the Church after it had sat vacant for many years. Unflagging community support and financial assistance from provincial, regional and municipal grants saw the once proud little church reopen as a unique community facility. In 2000 the original Sunday school and meeting room addition was removed and replaced with a new Reid Hall – an intimate meeting room designed and decorated to compliment the historic Benvoulin Church. The picturesque Church and Hall, and the tranquil surrounding gardens have become a familiar and recognizable part of the ever growing and ever changing Kelowna skyline, and continues to serve the community as an intimate facility for weddings, meetings, concerts, art shows and many other events. By having your wedding and reception at Benvoulin Heritage Park, you are supporting the preservation of Kelowna’s heritage and history. The Central Okanagan Heritage Society is a valuable community not-for-profit group whose mission is to promote and participate in the preservation and restoration of structural, natural, cultural and horticultural heritage within the Central Okanagan region. The Central Okanagan Heritage Society restored, owns and operates Benvoulin Heritage Park, and restored and manages Guisachan Heritage Park. All proceeds from the rental of Benvoulin Heritage Park go to the Society and support their preservation, education and restoration activities.
