The Kelowna Lawn Bowling Club is playing host to the 2012 Canadian Junior Bowls Championship this weekend. The series of tournaments started on the 6th of August and will conclude with the World Junior medal rounds on August 13th.
Lawn Bowling is a sport in it's own right and it could best be described as a combination between bowling and curling. The Kelowna Lawn Bowling Club offers an opportunity for you to try out the game for free. The Trial Membership Card offers you 3 free trial games (on Wednesdays) and also includes free introductory lessons. It would definitely be worth checking out as the club offers a fun way to spend some time, while enjoying the beautiful Kelowna weather.
The 2012 tournament also saw several rounds in the Forster-Lang Pairs, in which a Junior player (under the age of 18) is paired with an U25 player. These fun rounds are meant to help foster the game and share experience with younger players.
