Many people consider LA the centre of the universe. Well, the centre of the universe is now just three hours from Kelowna International Airport and four hours form your condo at Big White or Silver Star Resorts. The world is now closer than ever before to our Okanagan champagne powder. The corks were popping last night as we celebrated the announcement from United Airlines that they will commence daily round trip service from Los Angeles (LAX) to Kelowna (YLW) beginning December 19, 2012. The 66 seat jet (6 business class seats, 20 economy plus seats and 40 economy seats) will leave LAX at 6:40pm and arrive in Kelowna at 9:44pm. It departs Kelowna daily at 8am arriving LAX at 10.51am.
We know this this will be exciting news for skiers and snowboarders as Big White and Silver Star can boast that they are now the closest and most accessible ski resorts in Canada when serviced by this flight out of LAX. This is the benefit of having our resorts so close to an international airport (YLW). Most travellers now order their groceries online and arrive on mountain in under an hour to a well-stocked condominium/apartment and begin their ski holiday at 8.45am the next day when the lifts open. You can almost taste the champagne powder now.
This new service will not only link Los Angeles and United’s global route network to Kelowna, but will also provide a conduit for travellers from Los Angeles and beyond to experience what our two great resorts offer. As Canada’s largest totally ski-in, ski-out resort villages we boast incredible snow conditions and a world famous family friendly atmosphere. We are the perfect fit for your next ski holiday. Can’t come? Share this with a friend. We want to make their travel and holiday experience are as easy as possible. We’ve got an incredible team running two of Canada’s most popular ski and snowboard destinations. We look forward to welcoming you or your friends next time you’re in our neck of the woods.
Big White and Silver Star are located in the picturesque Okanagan Valley and a short 55-minute drive from Kelowna International Airport. These award-winning resorts are British Columbia’s second and third most popular winter ski destinations and boast the most ski-in, ski-out accommodation in Canada. Blessed with sunny weather, dry powder and a mild average temperature, these resorts are best known as Canada's favourite family resorts where kids and adults have all the fun.
