Okanagan Symphony Partners with local wineries to bring memorable evening of food, wine and live music
(Kelowna, BC, August 20, 2012) –The Okanagan Symphony Orchestra (OSO) brought together some of Kelowna’s top Chefs including Chef Couper (The Corked Cook), Chef Croy (Summerhill Sunset Bistro), Chef Casavant (Wild Apple Restaurant, Manteo Beach Resort), Chef Batey (Mission Hill Family Estate), and Chef Erickson (Cedar Creek Estate Winery) for a fantastic fundraising evening set at the breathtaking CedarCreek Estate Winery.
“Sitting among the vines on an Okanagan evening enjoying the fine wines of CedarCreek Estate Winery and the spectacular cuisine prepared by five local Chefs with music by Duo Insansa’s Bruce Henczel and Gord Robert created the perfect fundraiser for the Okanagan Symphony Orchestra,” comments Scott Wilson, General Manager of the Okanagan Symphony Orchestra. “The combination of the food, wine and music and outpouring of generosity by all allows the OSO to be showcased and maximize our fundraising efforts, which are key to the success of our organization.”
Fundraising events are a valuable component of the OSO each year. In 2012 the Okanagan Symphony will hold four fundraisers, in addition to our concert season. The fundraising events allow the organization to engage with an audience outside of the concert season. Often those who attend the special events have not yet been to a concert. The guests find these events peak their interest; as a result, the OSO will have new attendees at their concert performances.
“We have been very fortunate to receive a fantastic response to our fundraisers this year, from contributing donors to attending guests” states Judy Burns, Events Chair for the Okanagan Symphony Orchestra. “Our sold out evening at CedarCreek was a great success and we look forward to our next fundraiser, Concert in the Cellar.”
The final event of 2012 for the Okanagan Symphony Orchestra takes place September 15 at Tantalus Vineyards. The evening will feature wines from Tantalus Vineyards paired with exquisite cuisine prepared by Chef Roger Planiden (Culinary Adventure). Guests will enjoy live music featuring special guest artists hailing from Toronto , Guy Few and Nadina Jackson.
