Yes Nice! W/ Jeff Piattelli
Being tongue and cheek about apocalyptic writing is one thing, but capturing audiences from an almost spiritual harmonic level is another thing entirely. Yes Nice is a group that could only be created by childhood friends Scott Mckellar and Nathaniel Wong. In 2007, they released their first self-titled EP. In 2008, they acquired multi-instrumentalist Jillian McKellar, guitarist Darren Frank, and drummer Peter Hendrickson, while testing their abilities opening for the likes of Destroyer and Bend Sinister. In 2009, they acquired a grant from the Alberta Foundation for the Arts to write, record, and self-produce their full length album Blindfolded. They soon gained the attention of Vancouver’s Peak Performance Project (2010), a professional development program to help create sustaining careers in the music industry. This garnered the band higher profile events such as The Works Art & Design Fest (2010), New Music West (“Best Performance” 2011), and The TransCanada Alberta Music Series (2012). The band are finishing their next full length album, Warm Gun, to be released August 2012, as well as gearing up for their first Canadian tour to visit their fans in the East
