The ladies of the SS Rodeo Roller Derby team have brought the Banked Track back! You may remember watching Banked Track Roller Derby bouts on TV in the 1960’s-1970s. Roller Derby died off after the 70’s, but has made a resurgence in the last 5 years. Though currently all Roller Derby played in Canada is on a flat track surface. SS Rodeo Sports & Entertainment has spent the last year building Canada’s one and only Banked Roller Derby Track. They’ve been working hard and practicing in Prospera Place for the last few months, and on August 11th they’re ready to bring their skills to the track.
Saturday, August 11, 2012, SS Rodeo Sports & Entertainment presents Women’s Banked Track Roller Derby at Prospera Place. The match will feature the Okanagan team SS Rodeo Roller Girls versus Seattle’s Tilted Thunder Rail Birds.
Licensed concessions will be open for food and beverages.
This event will be a part of Roller Derby history as it is Kelowna’s first Banked Track event, being played on Canada’s first Banked Track!
Tickets are only $15 for general admission seats, $10 for youth (18 and under) and Seniors and Kids 10 and under are FREE*. * kids must be accompanied by an adult.
SS Rodeo formed in December 2010, and have since played Flat Track Roller Derby in Kelowna, BC, Penticton, BC, Bakersfield, California, Boise, Idaho, and Spokane Washington. The August 11th Bout will be their first game on the Banked Roller Derby track.
