Pictured above is the fabulous mother and daughter design duo, Cheryll Gillespie and Sam Shakura. These women have proved incredibly successful and are dedicated to making their business grow. Their style and design is elegant and unique with a touch of rock and roll. They've really proven to be power houses within their industry while hosting two radio shows, writing for a numerous amount of publications, as well as being innovators in interior design and fashion. They have a knowledge of the finer things in life and it really comes through in their product. One step into their boutique and you're sure to fall completely head over heels in love. It should also be noted that Sam Shakura has recently been nominated for 'Young Entrepreneur of the Year' by the Kelowna Chamber of Commerce. How does your business/organization impact the community?
Professionally and personally, the Rock House team believes wholeheartedly in the responsibility of business leaders to give back to both our local and global families.
What is the best part of operating in Kelowna?
That list could take all day! Besides being surrounded by stunning landscape to constantly charge our creative minds, we absolutely adore the people who call the Okanagan home. We are so blessed!
What has been your proudest accomplishment?
Being able to build a successful company as a mother-daughter team. We challenge and inspire each other every day. We are so fortunate to share this journey together.
If you were trapped in an elevator with several wealthy investors from any field, which field would you want them to be experts in? What would say to them/talk about?
Molecular travel scientists – We’d love to be able to be in two places at once…
What other businesses/organizations in Kelowna would you recommend to others?
We love taking advantage of our fantastic local food & wine scene. Some of our favorite haunts are The Fixx Café and Raudz Regional Table.
What is your favourite event in Kelowna?
Any event supporting the Arts or celebrating our awesome city!
If I could change 1 thing about Kelowna, it would be:
Direct flights to NYC.
