What are you passionate about?
In no particular order: Family, Sports, Career.
Family because they really do come first, no matter what.
Sports because, without passion there is no sport.
Career because policing is a job that you have to love in order to survive all of its physical and psychological onslaughts.
What has been your favourite day of your life, up to this point?
The birth of my daughter. To hold her to my chest for the very first time was simply the most amazing and emotional experience. The feeling really is beyond words, I'm just happy to have been able to share that moment with my wife.
What has been your proudest accomplishment?
Work-wise, a few years ago, while working in the Northern Rockies, I was involved in the search and rescue effort of an adventure-hiker from Germany. The man had gone missing in a vast, unpopulated wilderness area, which was really like finding a needle in a haystack.
We were able to locate all of the man's gear, but unfortunately, he was no where to be found. I updated the family through email with the help of a local translator and provided documentation of our investigation to the local and national German police through our Liaison Officer. The German officials were so impressed with the thoroughness of the investigation they commended me on what had been done. Equipped with that information, they were able to provide the family with some semblance of closure.
The loss of a family member is tragic, so as a police officer, if I can offer the family at least some comfort by completing a thorough investigation, then I have accomplished something great indeed.
If you were trapped in an elevator with several wealthy investors from any field, which field would you want them to be experts in? What would say to them/talk about?
I would love to be stuck in an elevator with a group of technology experts and then ask them, "Hey, how about those Canucks?"
Where is your favourite place to dine in Kelowna?
I actually have a favourite for each type of food, and the list is too long to account!
What is your favourite activity in Kelowna?
Virtually anything outdoors. Soccer certainly takes up much of my free time though.
If I could change 1 thing about Kelowna, it would be:
THE TRAFFIC! Its always bad, but summers are especially terrible.
What do you think makes Kelowna great?
The lake. I grew up within walking distance of a lake and there simply is no equal.
The mild winter and hot summer weather also help!
