In Focus | Jim Csek
Jim Csek is one of the hard-working faces behind Csek Creative and a devoted father to three. Jim's dedication to family did not go unnoticed at his recent surprise 50th birthday party and the room was filled with co-workers, family, friends, and even some of the ringette players that Jim used to coach. In honour of Jim's 50th birthday, we would like to thank him for helping to make Kelowna a vibrant and positive place.
How do people connect with you on Linkedin?
What is your Twitter account?
What do you always find yourself saying?
I try never to say the same thing over and over.
If you could spend one whole day with anyone in the world who is currently alive, who would you select?
That is a tough one, and I guess it would be someone I currently don't have access to, so if it had to be one person I would want to spend that time with the person in charge of this world. Can someone tell me who that is?
If you were to receive any existing public award, what award would you like to win?
The Order of Canada or to be knighted are some of the most amazing accolades, not that I would ever expect to receive either.
If you could spend a day with any historical figure, who would you choose?
I would have to say Jesus and not because of religion, but more so because of his effect on the world.
Who inspires you?
Inspiration comes my parents who both came to the country with nothing as teenagers and just worked so hard to raise their 7 children. They had no family to help them, could not speak english, never saw their parents or friends again.
What are 3 things on your bucket list?
Don't really have a bucket list.. if I did I would likely put something like this on it.
-
Be there to watch my grandchildren graduate from a Canadian University.
-
Travel from corner to corner of Canada for 3 years. We are so lucky to live in one of the best places on the planet and we all should be so proud.
-
Fly in a spacecraft and see the earth from outer space. Being a test pilot or astronaut was one of my childhood dreams.
If you had an enormous yacht, what would you name it?
yuk.. or yak because I get seasick
If you could foresee a single day of your future in its entirety, what date would you select?
100th birthday party, just celebrated my 50 and would like to make the century mark
What are you passionate about?
I really do enjoy learning and teaching.
What has been your favourite day of your life, up to this point?
This question is way too hard to answer, so I will answer it with an answer I have always liked and believe in.
My favourite day is tomorrow because that day will be better than yesterday because I will be better than I was yesterday. I learnt that from a famous painter who said when asked what his best piece was and he said it was his next one.
What has been your proudest accomplishment?
Again, how do you answer this question, there are so many things that I have been happy or proud to have been so lucky to be a part of.
If you were trapped in an elevator with several wealthy investors from any field, which field would you want them to be experts in? What would say to them/talk about?
Well, for sure no reality TV personalities or cheesy shows where these people think that being wealthy gives them the right to ridicule people for ratings.
I would have to pick guys like Jim Sinclair, and if you don't know who he is, it might be worth your effort to learn about such a man and try to understand what he is trying to say.
Where is your favourite place to dine in Kelowna?
Wow.. these are hard.. have many.. Costco for hotdogs, Mimis for the best club sandwich, Fernandos for Mexican, Dragon King for Chinese, you get the point I hope..
What is your favourite activity in Kelowna?
Love riding motorbikes, whether they be trail, enduro, sport or cruisers.
If I could change 1 thing about Kelowna, it would be
I would love to see more of the waterfront opened up to the people. Would be amazing if what we have around the Grand stretched all the way down Lakeshore Road. The lakeshore is something that should be shared with all in Kelowna.
What do you think makes Kelowna great?
We happen to live in the best country in the world and I will argue the most beautiful province in this great country and Kelowna happens to be in one of the most beautiful and also the most desirable spots in BC.
My choice for the Kelowna In Focus spotlight is:
I would say anyone who tries to make the world a better place deserves attention. We need more good people and more attention on them.
