Amici’s Hair and Body Spa has renovated and expanded. Owner Connie Grande-Lenza has amalgamated their former Pandosy Spa location (1610 Pandosy) with their main location at 595 Lawrence Avenue and now have 4,000 sq.ft. of salon and spa all under one roof. They offer seven hair stations (a Redken premiere salon) that specializes in all facets of hair cutting, colouring and styling, including Cinderella hair extensions and welcome grad and bridal parties. Timothy Kucher has relocated from Prince Rupert and joined the firm of Doak Shirreff LLP Lawyers. Timothy practiced in Prince Rupert for 13 years and specializes in real estate and corporate law. One really neat thing is that Timothy and his wife Carolyn have two sets of twin boys (yes two sets) that are eight and six years old.

Dan Turner has joined the team at The Mortgage Centre Express Mortgage Services. Dan was the mortgage development manager with Scotiabank and BMO for the past three years and prior to that was the Industrial relations manager at Western Star. Well known former manager of Skogies Car Wash at Orchard Park for 10 years, Dave Rutherford has moved on to a new position with a new company. He is now the sales representative for the Super Save Group that provide a list of services including gasoline, propane, disposal and fence rentals. Ray and Colleen Heathcote have opened another new “Subway” on the corner of Glenmore and Yates Road and from all accounts it is very busy. This is the fourth Subway in Kelowna. They also own the “Cantina” on Hollywood and Highway 33 in Rutland .

Kelowna Snowfest, with this year’s theme being “The Next Generation” is just about upon us. The annual Snowfest Convivial Creation Contest was held at Mickie’s Pub at the Ramada Hotel last Thursday. Congratulations to Mickie’s Pub, the winner of the contest with their convivial creation being the “Snow Gen Festation.” Creators of the creation were bartender Steve Panka and server Joanne Marchuk.

The Army, Navy, Air Force Veterans Kelowna Unit #376 has a new executive for 2006. They are Don Eriksen (president), Everett Jarvis (1^st vice president), Elsa Forbes (2^nd vice president) and Wayne Jones (past president). The executive are Heather McTavish, Kevin Gauthier, Jack Warren, Vivian Burnett, Jake Lowen, Fred Kammerer, Ken Kiengerski, Harry Robinson and Donald Wyese. The ANAF 376 officially received its Charter on March 1^st, 1972 with 40 members. The Ladies Auxiliary to the Unit received their Charter on March 1^st, 1973 . Their first president was Gunnar Gunderson and the ladies first president was his wife, Stella Gunderson. The unit was able to purchase their first building on Froelich Road , officially opening on December 31^st, 1976 . Today, they have over a million dollars in property and buildings. The Unit started development of a senior low cost housing for Vets, which is known as “The Bench” with their new club attached to the Phase #1 project on Dougall Road . The club is phase #2 and they now have done Phase #3 on Froelich Road where the old club was. They now have their new building complete with club rooms for their pool league, darts and crib. New to Kelowna , Webster's Academy is offering students a class to improve their writing. Using a proven and easy-to-use method of teaching students how to write, students will learn basic elements in style and structure which will remove their fears and tears about writing. Happy 65^th Anniversary Ben and Regina Schleppe (Jan.15)

The popular band “A Day Late and A Dollar Short” who were named 2005 B.C. Bluegrass Band of the Year at the annual meeting of the B.C. Bluegrass Association will be releasing their first CD in early February. Members of the band are Bob Grycaj (banjo), Jack Kinakin (Dobro), Bob Bissillion (rhythm guitar and lead and harmony vocals), Darrell Corbel (lead guitar, lead and harmony vocals), Vic Ukrainetz (fiddle and harmony vocals) and Ron Hillcoff (upright bass and harmony vocals). The group will be playing at Bunches Bistro on Springfield Road on January 21, February 22, March 19 and April 19. The show includes a light buffet dinner for only $25. Congratulations to Tom and Wendi Thomson on the birth of their daughter Angelia Lucille. You might remember Wendi was the manager of Mickie’s Pub in the Ramada Hotel for many years. She and hubby Tom are now residing in Nelson. Their families still reside in Kelowna .

Tai Chi has become one of the coolest ways to relieve stress, have a soft work out and meet great people. The Kelowna Taosit Tai Chi Club, a not for profit Society, is holding an Open House Demonstration and registration for beginner classes at the ECCO Centre at 2363 Springfield Road on Tuesday, February 14 from 10:30am to noon, Wednesday, February 15, 7-9pm and Saturday, February 18 from 10am-noon.
