Can a dull knife or dull piece of equipment be more dangerous than a sharp one” Absolutely! To maintain the best control of a knife’s operation as a precision tool, it must have a razor sharp edge, sometimes neglected. One excuse might be the time consuming hassle of taking them to be sharpened to a sharpener. “A Sharper Edge” mobile knife and blade sharpening service has new owners. Errol and Judi Hannigan have sold the business to Gordon and Betty Fletcher. They specialize in sharpening knives, food processor blades, pizza cutters, serrated knives, hunting knives, scissors, lawn mower blades, shears or anything that needs sharpening. They service both the residential and commercial markets including pubs, restaurants, bakery’s and chef’s personal knives. Their sharpening machinery is specifically designed to create a better than new razor sharp edge and you don’t even have to deliver and pick-up. Call 878-4611.

The Cops for Kids R.C.M.P. Regimental Ball at Prospera Place was a “huge” success. The evening went off without a hitch and record numbers attended. Chair Ken Thom and committee members Bart Dorssers, Brad Field, Grant Fletcher, Alex Fong, Ken Green, Superintendent Don Harrison, Gail Harrison, Superintendent Bill McKinnon Beryl Itani, Mel Kotler, Robert Levin, Heather MacDonald, Ron Maclaren, Allison McNeill, Inspector Steve McVarnock, Lillian Moller, Shawna McCrea, Sarah Nelems, Krista Noonan, Nan Pellatt, Gavin Perry, Dave Roseberry, Betti Smith, Kerry Solinsky and Paul van Drunen did an extraordinary job. Once again, I would like to express my appreciation in being asked to be Honourary Chair of the event. It was the highlight of my year and as all of you saw, I had a great time. An even greater honour was to have R.C.M.P. Deputy Commissioner Beverley Busson attend the event. Retiring R.C.M.P. Superintendent Ken Green did a phenomenal job as MC, along with Mike Roberts. Thanks to Platinum Sponsor CIBC Wood Gundy (Brock Aynsley) and all the other many sponsors, way to numerous to mention. Kudos to well-known artist Alex Fong for the truly amazing RCMP original portrait and prints. The painting was absolutely beautiful. Proceeds from the event are staying in our community for a suite in the Kelowna General Hospital for parents of neo-natal and critically ill children. And, please don’t forget. “Our law enforcement is the only entity that keeps you and me, the ordinary citizen safe. They are the only people between us and the bad guys. Always respect them and their decisions”.
