Call 762-2210 or 864-1715 or just drop in! A group of friends went to see The Da Vinci Code movie with us last week. There was so much hoop-la about it, I just had to go! Here are some of the comments made after the show. Three had read the book and the rest hadn’t. The star (*) choice was out of five stars. Here goes! Kent – Well done. I was amazed on how closely it followed the book. (***-1/2). Bernard – Ending was not what you would expect for a male and female actor. Should have been kissing at the end! (Bernard’s French and so that explains it!) (****). Vern – Really liked it. Didn’t understand why the Church got so upset about it. (****). Carol – There was way too much made about the film beforehand. If there wasn’t such a “poofaraw” she would not have gone. Thought the plot was weak and she didn’t really like it. She also thought it was too long. (**). Chris – Adequate, but slow. (**-1/2). Max – me! I really liked it. My tension span is very limited as all of you know and I thought it was fast moving and held my attention, except at the very beginning. I liked that you really didn’t know who the good guys were and who the bad guys were throughout the show. They kept changing and the ending was surprising to me. I agreed with Bernard on the kissing at the end. I like mystery, cop and robbers type movies so I gave it **** stars. That’s how I and my critics saw it and that’s show business! The Divas Don’t Diet hand-book includes sinfully decadent desserts, etiquette advice, funny quotes on dieting, trivia and even Oprah’s favorite “to die for dessert.” My favorite excerpt was “An hors’doeuvre is an unfamiliar creature curled up on a cracker and stabbed with a toothpick to make sure it’s dead.” (Pat Buttrame). What I liked about the book was that it was fast and easy to read and perfect for busy people who want to read something that is not an ongoing novel. It’s hilarious and a fun read for only $13.99 and available at Mosaic Books on Bernard. jsieger@shaw.ca This sounds really neat! I’m going to be pictured on the “double decker bus” with my new 45 pound weight loss. It’s going to be a hoot. I’ll be rolling down the streets of Kelowna. Don’t forget to wave! I’m on maintenance now and that’s important so I can fit on the bus forever. The whole key to weight loss is keeping it off as many of you know. Let me know what you think when you see the bus. It’s been a great ride with L.A. Weight Loss. TaylorMade Golf Tip of the week (By Jason Laczkovics) - When we play darts or horseshoes, where is your focus? The answer is the target. You are not thinking about the angle of your elbow, or how far your arm will move before you release the dart. You are focused on where you want that dart to land. Most golfers don’t focus on the target when playing golf. Instead we think about the mechanics of our swing while looking at the ball. Even more so, we think about things we don’t want the ball to do. Let your subconscious figure out how to swing the club while you stay focused on where you want that ball to land. (Jason Laczkovics is the Golf Shop Manager at the Okanagan Golf Club – jlacko@golfbc.com and Greg Murtland is the territory manager for TaylorMade).
