I personally would like to express my appreciation to Senator Fitzpatrick for his 10 years of service and dedication to our City and Valley. We have been very fortunate to have a respected person of his caliber and caring as a federal figure. Senator Fitzpatrick repeatedly invited many Federal dignitaries and Minister’s to visit our area and over the past ten year span, we were fortunate to have had the opportunity to personally meet them. Through this effort, he was extremely instrumental in helping and acquiring many federal grants and funds for numerous projects that will be visible and used in our community by all ages for many years to come.

The Rolling Stones, yes "the" Rolling Stones are "Having a Devil of a Time" in the B.C. wine biz with businessman Jeff Harder of Ex Nihilo Vineyards in Okanagan Centre. Jeff and Martin Erlichman, of Celebrity Cellars from L.A. started talks three years ago to develop an Ice Wine with the greatest rock band in the world. He is most notably known for being the long time manager of Barbara Streisand and other well known stars. Ex Nihilo will be launching their own ultra-premium brand this spring and the tasting room will be open in three years. Future plans include a Rolling Stones red and white wine. Jeff just returned from New York where he attended, with the band, the premiere of Martin Scorsese's Rolling Stones Documentary "Shine a Light" and confirmed the release of the limited Edition:” Sympathy for the Devil" Ice Wine, which is now on sale. All bottles of the 222 cases of Pinot Noir VQA Ice Wine will be hand numbered. To order or info call 250-766-5522 or visit www.rollingstonesicewine.com or www.celebritycellarscanada.com
Had a great chat with Steve Hardy about his brand new web-site iRANKD.com. It's really neat. Steve is a local entrepreneur who has been working on this project for a year. The site is now officially launched and there has already been some encouraging traffic. The goal of the site is to become the definite source for public opinion, a place where the public can ask questions and the public can answer them. What a unique concept. It's a great way to express an opinion and the range of topics on the site is almost infinite. A user can ask almost any question about any topic that is of interest to them. So, you can vote, create a question or write your own opinion. It's sort of the "wikipedia of opinions." Try it for yourself. www.irankd.com

I rarely write about medical issues, but thought I'd share this with you. Last year I had terrible pain in my right leg. Matter of fact, I was wearing a huge ugly brace last summer and boy, was that a pain, especially with nylons and a dress. Dr. Shepherd gave me the news that I had arthritis in my knee. Like usual I disagreed with him and like usual he was right. I tried everything to get rid of the pain and the brace, but to no avail. Some days were great, others were horrible. I was limping and feeling sorry for myself and ran into Naturopathic Physician, Dr. David Wikenheiser. He asked what happened and after my sorrowful story asked me to try some Oxygen Ozone Therapy (no, not for my head). I went right the next day and to make a long story short, after only three treatments my leg pain had subsided and quickly after that it was gone. The treatments are simple, do not hurt (small needles) and take very little time. Now and then if I wear heels for more than a couple of days it comes back, but it goes away quickly and is never as bad as it was. I sometimes wear a smaller brace when I'm golfing or walking long distances just for precautionary measures. Dr. Wikenheiser says he has more luck with back and neck problems with this therapy, but it worked for me. I'm sure it's not for everyone, but you might want to try it. The only thing you have to loose is the pain. Call 762-8900 for a consultation.

This is really neat. Patrick Woods and his daughter Morgan have been invited to face the Dragons on CBC's popular Dragons' Den on Sunday, May 25. They are presenting a game that Patrick invented about teaching how money works today, and is aimed at ages 10 and up. It’s challenging for adults, but is accommodating to younger players and is made so mom and dad can play with their kids and teach them about money. It’s a high end market game that is an accurate simulation of economic principals, the trading in markets and the mechanics of corporations. It has common shares, directorships with annual salaries, preferred shares with annual dividends, bonds and debentures with annual interest, stock promotions and more. Time is built into the game. It’s both entertaining and educational and now available at Chapters, Loadzatoys and Bergmans. Call Patrick at 862-7829.
