About Maxine
Maxine DeHart has been a resident of Kelowna for the past 29 years and Director of Sales for the Ramada Lodge Hotel for the past 15 years.

She served for four years on the Board of the Chamber of Commerce, the last two as Vice-President. During the first two years, Maxine was responsible for the Membership Development Portfolio, which included implementing the New
Member's Program, New Member's Ambassadors and New Membership Reception. As a result, Kelowna's Chamber membership grew to be the largest in BC that year.

In 1997, Maxine accompanied Mayor Walter Gray, representing the Kelowna Chamber of Commerce as Vice-President with a City delegation to Kasugai, Japan, Kelowna's sister City.

Maxine has served on the Central Okanagan United Way Board as a Director for the past three years. She Chaired the 1998 Central Okanagan United Way Campaign, which was the most successful fundraising campaign ever. The campaign surpassed its goal of $600,000 by about $69,000. This adds up to the largest yearly increase in the 49 year history of the Central Okanagan United Way.  As a result, Maxine was awarded the 1999 Community Award - Citizen of the Year.

Maxine is currently on the Board of Directors of the United Way Annual Golf Tournament held in September. She was a founding member of the Kelowna Exceptional Service Under the Sun Award for the Kelowna Chamber of Commerce.

Maxine has written the hugely successful Kelowna Capital News Business Column "Straight from DeHart, for the past two years, which appears weekly on Wednesdays and is the Honourary Chair of the 2000 Endangered Wildlife Festival.

She is presently on the Board of Directors of the Kelowna General Hospital Hospital Foundation. Maxine has also been a Director on various other Boards in the Tourism Industry and other local and Canadian Charities and Associations.

Maxine is married to Chris DeHart (DeHart Road) a member of the well-known pioneer family, who is a Business Development Executive for Telus in Kelowna. Her hobbies include golf and walking.

Maxine says, "People are what I enjoy most, and that's why my position at the hotel and at the Capital News suits me just fine - people all day every day!!"
